An estimated 7.4 million women in the United States are struggling with infertility. This means about 12% of our country’s population cannot get or stay pregnant. Regardless of what form of infertility a woman or couple is experiencing, it can be devastating. There is nothing quite like the heartache of longing to have a child and simply not getting to do so.
Here at Bare Chiropractic, we see you, and we feel your pain. And we’re here to give you hope.
Traditional healthcare offers a handful of options for those experiencing infertility. In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be quite costly and only has about a 30% success rate. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a less expensive option, but it is only effective 10-20% of the time for women under 35, and the likelihood of success decreases with age. Surgery can sometimes be an option to increase a woman’s chances of getting pregnant, but it depends on the issue behind the infertility. At the same time, surgery may not improve fertility, and it can come with a long recovery time and other possible side effects.
Causes of Infertility
It is estimated that about one-third of infertility issues are linked to women’s reproductive health, one-third are linked to men’s reproductive health, and one-third are linked to both individuals or an unknown cause.
In men, causes include sperm transport disorder, gonad disorders, and pituitary disorders. Women’s infertility can be caused by thyroid problems, hormonal imbalances, cysts, ovulation issues, and excess weight or being underweight. Issues with the uterus or fallopian tubes can also cause problems with fertility.
Regardless of how long you’ve been struggling with infertility and what diagnoses you have received, if any, Bare Chiropractic is here to help.
How Chiropractic Impacts Fertility
Every message that the brain sends to the body—about how to work properly and what processes need to happen—goes through the spinal cord. If even one single vertebra is shifted or twisted even the tiniest bit, it puts pressure on the spinal cord and interrupts the messages being sent. Now imagine having several misalignments, where multiple vertebrae are twisted or shifted. You can imagine the dysfunction and havoc that would occur in the body. When these misalignments are in the lower back, the reproductive system is heavily impacted.
At Bare Chiropractic, Dr. Thomas Keogh will gently adjust your spine to bring about proper alignment and restore optimal function. When your spine is aligned the way it should be, the messages from the brain are properly sent and received, meaning your normal bodily processes happen as they should. Women experiencing infertility, inconsistent menstrual cycles, and other reproductive issues have seen vast improvements in their health and wellness after being under regular chiropractic care.
